Current Insulating Bearings
From application experience in electric drives as well as belt drives, bearing damages from electric corrosion are reported often. They are a result of either static charge of a component or circulating electricity in electric machines. Through the application of current insulating bearings, the situation is improved. Two technologies are available for such cases:
- Hybrid bearings with ceramic rings or rolling elements
- Current insulating bearings with ceramic insulation layer on the outer or inner ring
The second variant is becoming more and more popular, because it is easier and less expensive to produce than pure ceramic or hybrid bearings. Main application areas are deep groove ball bearings and cylindrical roller bearings.
